The pass marketplace

Champion passes are earned by finishing a game as a finalist — see Champion passes and the Champions tournament. A pass has two ways to create value, and they're a fork:

  • Enter it into the live tournament for a shot at the pot — entering burns the pass.
  • Sell it to another player on the built-in marketplace.

This page is about the second option.

How selling works

  1. Open the Market tab in the app, or hit Sell on any pass you hold.
  2. Set a fixed price in SOL and list it. Listing escrows the pass to the program: it's locked while listed (you can't enter it into the tournament), but it stays yours until it actually sells.
  3. Anyone can buy it at your listed price. The moment they do, on-chain and atomically:
    • you (the seller) get 99% of the price,
    • 1% goes to the lottery (the flat marketplace fee),
    • the pass transfers straight to the buyer, and the listing closes.
  4. You can change the price anytime, or delist to take the pass back — both are free apart from the tiny network fee.

There are no auctions or bidding — every listing is a simple fixed price.

One market per league

Each league has its own separate marketplace. In the Shrimp league you only see and trade Shrimp passes; in the Whale league, only Whale passes. The two never mix — same as their pots, jackpots and tournaments.

Active vs expired passes

  • An active pass can still be entered into the live tournament — that's its main value.
  • An expired pass (its tournament already drew) is a keepsake: it can no longer be entered. You can still list and sell it as a collectible, and the app clearly flags it so a buyer can never mistake a drawn pass for an enterable one.

WARNING

Be careful — don't buy an EXPIRED pass by mistake. An expired pass can never be entered into a tournament; its only value is as a keepsake. Before buying, always check the pass status: a green ACTIVE pass can be entered, a red EXPIRED one cannot. If you're buying to play, make sure it says ACTIVE.

On-chain & non-custodial

The whole market lives in the contract — there's no middleman holding your pass or your money:

  • the listed pass sits in a program escrow account, not in our hands;
  • payment moves directly from buyer to seller, with the 1% fee going straight to the treasury;
  • delisting always returns the pass to you.

So selling a pass is exactly as trustless as the rest of BurnBola: nobody can take your pass or your SOL, and every listing, price change and sale is a verifiable on-chain transaction.

TIP

Remember the fork: a listed pass is escrowed and can't be entered, and an entered pass is burned and can't be sold. Decide whether a given pass is worth more to you as a tournament entry or as something to sell.
